Ceri was admitted to the maternity unit at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, with severe bleeding. This was caused by her placenta separating from her womb due to pre-eclampsia. Her baby was born safely by emergency caesarean and Ceri needed a blood transfusion. Ceri's bleeding was treated using the OBS UK care package, which has been in everyday use since 2017. Ceri noticed how quickly and calmly she received her treatment. “It was terrifying at the time, but I cannot fault the staff for the way they managed to calm me down,” she recalled.
