Obstetric Bleeding Study UK
Psychological and Financial Work
We are trying to understand if the way care is provided for heavy bleeding after childbirth affects how women, birthing people and their partners feel in terms of their own mental health in the weeks and months after having their baby(ies). We also want to know about how they felt about the birth and the team caring for them during the heavy bleeding. If you are willing to take part then at about 6 weeks after birth, we will ask you to complete (your choice of email, phone or post) some simple questionnaires that take about 15 -20 minutes. We will send you a text message before, so you know these are coming. We will send some of the same questionnaires a second time at about 6 months after the birth.
Please note that none of the psychological information you provide in the questionnaires will be examined until all the six-month information is collected. This means the research team will not know how you are feeling and will not be able to take any action. Links to mental health support services available for parents can be accessed by clicking on the images below or by speaking to your GP.
We are also trying to find out how women, birthing people and their partners are affected economically in the weeks and months after having their baby(ies). We want to know if bigger bleeds affect the economics of families differently to smaller bleeds. We are also trying to find out how different types of bleeds, for example bigger bleeds and smaller bleeds, affect the NHS and women and their partners economically.
